Bad faith bargaining complaint against the University of Ottawa

UPDATE (September 25, 2014): Following the agreement in principle between the Union and the Employer, CUPE 2626 has dropped its bad faith bargaining complaint against the University of Ottawa. After filing the complaint, the Union was able to secure a clause whereby the Employer will disclose the yearly relevant budgetary & financial information pertinent to bargaining (article 6.7).

On August 5, 2014, CUPE 2626 filed a bad faith bargaining complaint against the Employer (the University of Ottawa). This complaint stems from the Employer’s continued failure to provide us with important financial data throughout the bargaining process, along with blocking the Union’s resulting request under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act to access this data. As mentioned in our last bargaining update, the Employer is legally obligated to provide the Union with this financial data and other information, as it is necessary to substantiate their proposals.
