Executive Board Elections: Monday, April 23, 2018!

Unfortunately, on April 3, 2018 our Annual General Meeting did not reach quorum and we were not able to elect our next Executive Board. For this reason, we’re holding a special Steward’s Council on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 5 p.m. in FSS 6032.

ELECTIONS: SPECIAL CONDITIONS 

Please note: the Steward’s Council will elect Executive officers (paid!). To run for a position, please come to the meeting on April 23, 2018. While members can attend this meeting, they will not have voting power. On May 3, 2018, during our Special General Assembly, members may ratify the new EB.

If you cannot attend, please follow our election procedure: send a letter of intent to the President of Assembly at pa@2626.ca (with info@2626.ca in CC) before 11:59 p.m. on April 22 with the following information:

  • Your name, employee number and signature
  • Your phone number and email address
  • The title of the position you are running for
  • Your Degree of Functionality in both official languages (French and English).
  • The signature of five (5) members supporting your nomination (NB: A member may nominate or support the nomination of only one person per position)
  • A document of one (1) page in length maximum (or two (2) pages if written in both official languages), in which you introduce yourself and present your electoral platform

EXECUTIVE POSITIONS

President

  • Official spokesperson for CUPE 2626.
  • Enforces the CUPE Constitution and these bylaws.
  • Ensures the proper functioning of the Union.
  • Primary contact between CUPE 2626 and CUPE National.
  • Member of the Grievance Committee.
  • Supervises employees on behalf of the EB.
  • Provides a monthly report to the EB.
  • Honorarium: Approx. $13,850* (for full, 1-year mandate). *Subject to scheduled wage increases.
  • Language Requirements: This position requires a minimum Degree of Functionality A in one of the two official languages and a Degree of Functionality B in the second official language.

Vice-President

  • Performs all duties of the President if the President is absent or unable to perform their duties.
  • Responsible for internal communications with members.
  • Responsible for the GC.
  • Provides a monthly report to the EB.
  • Honorarium: Approx. $12,925* (for full, 1-year mandate). *Subject to scheduled wage increases.
  • Language Requirements: This position requires a minimum Degree of Functionality A in one of the two official languages and a Degree of Functionality B in the second official language.

Treasurer

  • In charge of finances, statements, financial transactions, and other financial matters.
  • Chair of the Finance Committee.
  • First person in charge of the Defense Fund.
  • Responsible for the payment of bills.
  • Provides financial reports and statements.
  • Ensures that the finances of CUPE 2626 are kept in accordance with recognized accounting practices.
  • Provides a monthly report to the EB.
  • Honorarium: Approx. $11,075* (for full, 1-year mandate). *Subject to scheduled wage increases.
  • Language Requirements: This position requires a minimum Degree of Functionality A in French and a Degree of Functionality B in English.

Chief Steward Francophone (CS-F)

  • Shares CS responsibilities with the CS Anglophone.
  • Resource person for the Stewards – coordinates the training and the activities of the Stewards.
  • Ensures the organisation of the Stewards’ Council.
  • Main contact between the SC and the EB.
  • Member of the Grievance Committee.
  • Provides a monthly report to the EB.
  • Honorarium: Approx. $11,075* (for full, 1-year mandate). *Subject to scheduled wage increases.
  • Language Requirements: This position requires a minimum Degree of Functionality A in French and a Degree of Functionality D in English.

Chief Steward Anglophone (CS-A)

  • Shares CS responsibilities with the CS Francophone.
  • Resource person for the Stewards – coordinates the training and the activities of the Stewards.
  • Ensures the organisation of the Stewards’ Council.
  • Main contact between the SC and the EB.
  • Member of the Grievance Committee.
  • Provides a monthly report to the EB.
  • Honorarium: Approx. $11,075* (for full, 1-year mandate). *Subject to scheduled wage increases.
  • Language Requirements: This position requires a minimum Degree of Functionality A in English and a Degree of Functionality D in French.

Equity and Education Officer

  • Report to the EB regarding conditions which impede the participation of particular constituencies and to facilitate the participation of those particular constituencies.
  • Coordinates the training of the Board members, the Stewards and the regular members.
  • Provides a monthly report to the EB.
  • Honorarium: Approx. $7,385* (for full, 1-year mandate). *Subject to scheduled wage increases.
  • Language Requirements: This position requires a minimum Degree of Functionality A in one of the two official languages and a Degree of Functionality D in the second official language.

Health and Safety Officer

  • In charge of the Occupational Health and Safety Committee (OHSC) 2626.
  • Acts as a liaison with the membership and the University on health and safety matters.
  • Responsible for overseeing the environmental and sustainability initiatives of the CUPE 2626.
  • Provides a monthly report to the EB.
  • Honorarium: Approx. $4,150* (for full, 1-year mandate). *Subject to scheduled wage increases.
  • Language Requirements: This position requires a minimum Degree of Functionality A in one of the two official languages and a Degree of Functionality D in the second official language.

Recording Officer

  • In charge of recording the minutes for the various meetings of CUPE 2626.
  • Records all alterations to the bylaws.
  • Maintains a policy log.
  • Prepares the agenda, notices, minutes, etc.
  • Presides over meetings in the absence of the President of Assembly.
  • Honorarium: Approx. $5,500* (for full, 1-year mandate). *Subject to scheduled wage increases.
  • Language Requirements: This position requires a minimum Degree of Functionality A in one of the two official languages and a Degree of Functionality D in the second official language.

Liaison Officer

  • Responsible for relations with organisations on campus (e.g. GSAÉD, SFUO, APTPUO, etc.)
  • This role includes helping with outgoing communications (announcements, newsletters, videos, etc.).
  • Chairs the Mobilisation Committee.
  • Provides a monthly report to the EB.
  • Honorarium: Approx. $7,200* (for full, 1-year mandate). *Subject to scheduled wage increases.
  • Language Requirements: This position requires a minimum Degree of Functionality A in one of the two official languages and a Degree of Functionality D in the second official language.
