General Assembly: We need your help!

GA days are quite stressful, and they take months of planning.  We worry about not getting quorum, we worry about not having enough food, we worry about the GA running too long, etc. However, we do it for you, our members! It is the best way to inform  you about what is happening, and it is the best way for you to let us know what you need from us! This is why we work so hard at ensuring that our general assemblies go smoothly.

There is one thing you could do for us that will help us ensure that the GA goes well: fill out your Member in Good Standing Card by March 10 at 11:59 pm.

Whether or not you fill out the card, you are still protected by the union. However, if you want to come to the GA, you need to have filled out a Member in Good Standing Card. This rule is something that comes from CUPE National.  If you want more information, see here.

Filling out the card by March 10 at 11:59 pm will allow registration for the GA  to go quickly. Until our last GA, we only needed to check that you were a member before allowing you to enter the GA. Now, we need to ensure that you are a member and that you filled out the Member in Good Standing Card.

We update our General Members List the eve of every GA, and now we need to cross reference this list, with the list that tells us who filled out their Member in Good Standing Card. Filling out your  Member in Good Standing Card by March 10 at 11:59 pm will ensure that you show up on the list as filling out your Member in Good Standing Card.

You can find the form here.

What happens if I don’t fill out my Member in Good Standing Card by March 10 at 11:59 pm?

You can still come to the GA. We will have stations where folks can fill out their Member in Good Standing Card. However, this does slow us down.  Another option is to take a “screenshot” of the last page of the form. We can take this as proof that you’ve completed it.

I want to fill out the form but I don’t know my employee number?

Your employee number can be found on your employment offer. If you put “UOHMS” in the search bar of your student email account, you can most likely find your employement offer.  Alternatively, you can email us at info@2626.ca, and we can look it up for you.
