The CUPE 2626 Regular General Assembly (RGA) will take place on November 19, 2014 in FSS 4007 (Faculty of Social Sciences, 120 University). Registration will open at 5:30 p.m., and the Assembly will start at 6:00 p.m.
NB: Please bring a photo ID (eg: your student card). A proof of contract in the last year may also be required if you aren’t on the members’ list – if possible, please bring a copy of your last contract (either a hard copy or an electronic version). Electronic contracts are emailed to your employee email address.

Elections
During the RGA, members will elect a Member in Good Standing, a President of Assembly, and three Trustees. Please see “Positions to fill” below for a description of positions.
HOW TO RUN FOR A POSITION
If you wish to run for a position, please come to the RGA on November 19. If you cannot attend, please send a letter of intent to the President of Assembly at pa@cupe2626.ca (with info@cupe2626.ca in cc) before 11:59 p.m. on November 18. The letter must include the following information:
- Your name, employee number and signature;
- Your phone number and email address;
- The title of the position you are running for;
- Your Degree of Functionality in both official languages (see each position);
- The signature of five (5) members supporting your nomination (NB: A member may nominate or support the nomination of only one person per position);
- A document of one (1) page in length maximum (or two (2) pages if written in both official languages), in which you introduce yourself and present your electoral platform.
POSITIONS TO FILL
President of Assembly (1 position)
This is a paid position.
- Presides over the meetings of the EB and the SC, as well as the GAs.
- Ensures that the rules and procedures are respected and the rights of the members, present or absent, are not infringed upon.
- Must apply Bourinot’s Rules of Order, the CUPE 2626 Bylaws and the CUPE Constitution.
- Honorarium: Approx. $3,800 (for full, 1-year mandate).
- Language Requirements: This position requires a minimum Degree of Functionality A (written and oral comprehension, written and oral expression) in one of the two official languages and a Degree of Functionality C (written and oral comprehension) in the second official language.
Member in Good Standing (1 position)
This is a paid position.
- Helps other members of the Grievance Committee to fulfill their duties.
- Helps the Chief Stewards deal with grievances, does the research and finds the documentation relevant to handling the grievances.
- Honorarium: Approx. $1,700 (for full, 1-year mandate).
- Language Requirements: This position requires a minimum Degree of Functionality A (written and oral comprehension, written and oral expression) in one of the two official languages and a Degree of Functionality B (written and oral comprehension, oral expression) in the second official language.
Trustee (3 positions)
This is not a paid position.
- Exercises general supervision over the property of the Local.
- Examines the books and records of the Treasurer.
- Ensures that the local complies with the provisions of the CUPE National Constitution.
- Language Requirements: This position requires a minimum Degree of Functionality A (written and oral comprehension, written and oral expression) in one of the two official languages and a Degree of Functionality D (written comprehension) in the second official language.
