ABOUT THE UNION

CUPE 2626 represents thousands of Teaching and Research Assistants, Markers, Tutors, Lab Monitors, Demonstrators, Proctors, Lifeguards and Residence Life Workers at the University of Ottawa. CUPE 2626 is a local section of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (or “CUPE National”), the largest union in Canada, with over 680,000 members across the country. CUPE 2626 was formed in 1997 following a unionization drive organized by TAs and RAs in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering to fight against the arbitrary nature of contract allocation and pay rates in different departments.

CUPE 2626 Annual General Assembly is coming soon!

CUPE 2626 Annual General Assembly is coming soon!

Date: Monday, March 27, 2023

Time: 5:30 PM (the Zoom link will be accessible from 5PM, so members can ask any questions before the meeting starts)

Where: Zoom

The first 75 people to register for the AGA, attend, and be present when the link is given out will automatically win a $20 President’s Choice gift card. To be eligible to win, you must register for the AGA and attend the event.

IMPORTANT: Registration is mandatory to get the Zoom link and to be able to vote.

Why should I attend the AGA?

The goals of a General Assembly are, among other things, to present an account of the activities of CUPE 2626 in the past year, to hold elections, to adopt a budget for the coming year, and to give mandates to the various committees of CUPE 2626.

This AGA is also important because  for the past few months, your Bargaining Committee has been advocating for your interests at the bargaining table against an Employer that has continuously responded to union demands with austerity measures and concessions. A full report about bargaining will be presented at the AGA on March 27th, 2023.

The AGA kit will be ready soon.

How do I register?

There are two steps:

1) Fill out this form to become a Member in Good Standing. Only a Member in Good Standing can attend and vote at General Assemblies and run for any elected positions.

2) Register by responding to this Zoom invitation. You will receive a confirmation email shortly before the AGA with instructions on how to join the meeting. Note: you will not receive a confirmation email right away when you register.
